My own wedding was the best day of my life. We took our vows outside on a beautiful spring day (that stayed dry!); the reception was at a country cottage with a marquee; my friend’s band played a live set while the bride crowd surfed in her dress; there was a bonfire… The memories are magical. As a Cornwall-based wedding photographer, I want to help others create equally cherished memories that will stay vivid for years to come.
“Every wedding is special, with its own unique narrative”
With over a decade of experience as a magazine and photo editor, I understand the importance of storytelling. Every wedding is special, with its own unique narrative, setting, and cast of characters. Through a style of photography that is primarily non-posed and intimate, I seek to capture the natural flow of the day and the true spirit of your guests at their relaxed best.
This documentary approach is heavily influenced by my father Robert, who was an outstanding street photographer in his day. His fly-on-the-wall images taught me the art of ‘seeing more, and being seen less’.
From the tangible butterflies as the bride gets ready, through to the ceremony itself and finally the reception, the hours can easily pass by in a blur of emotions and it is my job to preserve these wonderful moments for posterity. I love to stick around after the first dance, when the guests can really let their hair down and their personalities shine through the lens!
In Cornwall, wedding photographers like myself are truly spoilt when it comes to the locations we’re asked to shoot. If a beach wedding is your goal, the North Coast boasts some stunning wedding venues including St Ives, St Agnes, Newquay and Bude. Cornwall and Devon’s cities – such as Plymouth, Exeter, Falmouth, St Austell, Truro and Penzance – can also be the setting for a picturesque town ceremony. Or why not plan your special day in the beautiful local countryside with the lovely people at Cornish Tipi Weddings, Trevenna or Nancarrow Farm?
Wherever you decide to get married, and whatever the season, my photos promise to convey the unique atmosphere of your wedding.
The Technical Stuff
I shoot weddings using a Fuji mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses. It is quieter and less obtrusive than the giant SLRs of old, but more importantly it captures fantastic images. Take a look at my sample gallery of wedding photography in Cornwall to see for yourself. You can also browse my commercial events work for clients such as Veuve Clicquot.
I am based in Truro and primarily operate in Cornwall and Devon, but I am happy to discuss travelling elsewhere in the UK or abroad. For this or any other questions, just drop me a line.
